Yesterbread: Put the past on the table

Welcome to Yesterbread!

People have been making and eating bread for at least 14,000 years. Today, baked goods are a growing stable foodstuff for our planet, accounting for over 130 million tons of product per year (and that is just by professional bakers!). The sheer variety of bread is staggering, ranging from a perfectly balanced sourdough loaf to blistered naan and from dense Danish rugbrød (rye bread) to toothy fluted baguettes.
And yet…
While mankind may well have had some form of bread in its haversack for quite a good deal of the journey to modern day, we still don’t know very much about the history of bread, breadmaking and bakers, much less what early breads tasted like! Yesterbread aims to explore this by putting the past on the table!
